Agri Zap RZCOO1 Rat Zapper Classic

Are you tired of that nerve racking task of setting those wooden snap traps when trapping rats? Disgusted by having to reach down and free a bloody rat carcass from your old wooden rat trap? Then the Rat Zapper Classic is for you. If you are like me and you dread setting those wooden snap traps, then read on.
The Rat Zapper Classic RZC001 is a rat and mouse trap that kills by a powerful jolt of electricity and is the most humane way to kill a mouse or rat. If you have ever had to remove a wounded live rat or mouse from a standard trap, you can appreciate the benefit of a quick clean kill of the offending rodent. It can be set as easy as dropping some pet food in the opening and flipping the power switch on. Then a kill is indicated by a blinking light on top of the trap. No need to plug it in as the unit runs on 4 AA batteries so it can be placed almost anywhere out of the weather.
A nasty job just got better
Trapping rats has traditionally been one of the more unpleasant jobs. Reaching down to remove a bloody carcass from a snap trap, or worse a wounded rat, is bad enough to make anyone avoid the job altogether. Just setting a wooden snap trap can be a tense unpleasant experience. I often felt it was like defusing a bomb as you anticipated the wooden snap trap to go off prematurely with an ear piercing snap! Yup, trapping rats has always been a nasty job.
But, now there is a much better way. The Rat Zapper is the solution to making that nasty job tolerable. Baiting the trap and setting it is simple, just drop some pet food in the opening and turn on the switch. When you catch a rat, there is no blood, gore or mess as the rodent is quickly and cleanly electrocuted in the trap. Removing the dead rat is now clean and easy. I confess to feeling some sense of relief the first time I caught a rat in a zapper. I didn't have to touch anything but the outside of the box when I shook the dead rat out into a paper bag. Trapping rats is now quick, clean and easy.
Will the lights flicker when it kills a rodent?
The Agri Zap RZCOO1 Rat Zapper Classic works on AA batteries. No need for electrical outlets. You can get about 10 kills with 4AA Duracell Ultras M3 batteries or Energizer Titanium E2s. You can even get up to about 30 kills on one set of batteries by upgrading to the Energizer E2 Lithium batteries. Since it's battery powered, you can place it almost anywhere that is out of the weather and not wet or damp. Easy Peasy.

Any complaints?
Though the Rat Zapper Classic scores about 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon with over 100 reviews, there were a few negative reviews. These seemed to center mostly around the batteries not lasting long enough or having to be replaced too often, false triggers, or trouble just catching a rat. Still there are far more positive than negative reviews.
The Rat Zapper Classic RZC001 is the way to take the "yuck" out of the nasty job of trapping rats!
